
Anne Green
Professor, City-REDI
Anne Green is Professor of Regional Economic Development at the City-Regional Economic Development Institute (City-REDI), University of Birmingham. She has a first degree in Geography from University College London, a Masters degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and a PhD from the University of Warwick.
She has in excess of thirty years of experience of working in applied research at university-based multi-disciplinary research institutes. Her research is wide-ranging but has focused on employment, skills, local and regional labour markets, welfare-to-work and employment support, area regeneration, urban/ regional/ rural economic development, migration, commuting, policy evaluation, governance, leadership and place-based issues.
She writes extensively for academic, policy and practitioner audiences. In the UK she has led and managed projects for UK Government departments, devolved governments, regional agencies and combined and local authorities. She has acted in an expert capacity for the OECD and the European Commission.
